I would like to thank all of the hardworking Club Executive and members for the support that enabled completion of the following major work plan achievements from last summer until now:
- A beautiful and functional new website; and
- Initiation of Google file storage backup, with Pat Paulin’s leadership
- Revision of the Constitution and Bylaws, with Helen Staal’s expertise
Communications with National & Provincial CFUW contacts & information was a focus of the President including: nominations for candidates to serve CFUW National as VP International Relations & Regional Director Ontario South; 2016-17 pre-budget consultations; and data collection on the proposed Amendment for CFUW to withdraw from Graduate Women International. Vice-President Heather Hall prepared an analysis & ably led the discussion & vote on this important topic. Past President Mary Jane Waszynski filled incoming Executive positions with many keen members willing to serve our Club.
With the above infrastructure tasks taken care of, our strong membership participated in Club activities they enjoyed most to: increase Charitable Funds available for scholarships & local agencies; attract new members; and add fascinating History Corner talks to our general meetings. Most notably, our Club has been recognized for two initiatives: hosting the National AGM in St. Catharines in June, and sponsoring a Syrian Refugee family.
I have learned a great deal and am proud to have had the opportunity to be President during the 95th year of the CFUW St. Catharines Club. I look forward to supporting the incoming Executive with next year’s exciting developments.
I hope to see many of you on May 1st at this year’s House Tour, our largest fundraiser, and on May 10th at the Spring Fling Dinner.
Marilyn Wallace, CFUW St. Catharines President 2015-16
